Memphis offers a dense concentration of specialized museums centering on its musical legacy and riverfront history. The Rock 'N Soul Museum and W.C. Handy Home detail the evolution of blues and soul, while the Mississippi River Museum explores the waterway's impact on regional development. Specialized sites include the Fire Museum, housed in a historic fire station, and the Cotton Museum, located on the former trading floor of the Memphis Cotton Exchange.
