Lakes and Waterfalls

This collection highlights the diverse aquatic landscapes of Nahuel Huapi National Park and the surrounding Los Lagos region. It features expansive glacial lakes like Correntoso and Traful alongside high-altitude gems such as Laguna Ilón. The list also includes dramatic geological formations, including the 40-meter drop of Cascada Santa Ana and the glacial meltwaters of Garganta del Diablo at the base of Mount Tronador. These sites showcase the region's Valdivian rainforest, basaltic cliffs, and ancient Alerce forests.

Lago Correntoso

Glacial lake in Neuquén Province near Villa La Angostura. It is known for its deep blue, relatively warm waters and is connected to Lake Nahuel Huapi by the short Correntoso River.

Mascardi Lake

Mascardi Lake is in the lake region of northern Patagonia in Río Negro Province of Argentina.

Cascada Santa Ana

A 40-meter waterfall located near the Cardenal Samoré border crossing. The site features a basaltic cavern behind the water curtain, accessible via a trail through the dense forest.

Los Cántaros

A series of cascades located in the Puerto Blest area. A wooden staircase trail climbs alongside the falls, offering views of the surrounding Valdivian temperate rainforest.

Cascada Río Bonito

A 35-meter waterfall situated near the base of Cerro Bayo. The water drops into a natural emerald pool surrounded by a basaltic rock amphitheater.

A powerful waterfall located at the base of Mount Tronador. Fed by glacial meltwater, the falls drop from sheer cliffs into a rocky canyon.

A wide, multi-tiered waterfall accessible via a trail off the Seven Lakes Road. The hike involves crossing shallow sections of the river and passes through diverse woodland.

Cascada Los Alerces

A significant waterfall on the Manso River within the southern sector of Nahuel Huapi National Park. It is surrounded by lush vegetation, including protected Fitzroya trees.

Salto Las Nalcas

A slender waterfall located near Pampa Linda. It cascades down a vertical rock face and is named after the large-leaved Nalca plants that grow in the humid environment.

A remote glacial lake situated in the western reaches of the national park. It is reached via a challenging hiking trail starting from Puerto Blest near the Chilean border.

Lago Julia Argentino Roca

A narrow, elongated lake in the southern Andean region, also known as Lago Roca. It is a frequent destination for fly fishing and features several campsites.

Lago Fonck

A quiet glacial lake located west of Lake Mascardi. It is characterized by its still waters and provides a vantage point for viewing the glaciers of Mount Tronador.

A small lake forming part of the Manso River system. It is well-regarded for the clear reflection of Mount Tronador visible from its shores.

A high-altitude lagoon reached by a steep mountain trail from Pampa Linda. It features a sandy shoreline known as Playa de las Miradas overlooking the surrounding peaks.
