The O'Higgins Region encompasses industrial history, world-class viticulture, and rugged Andean landscapes. It is home to El Teniente, the world’s largest underground copper mine, and the Colchagua Valley, a premier wine-producing area known for its Mediterranean climate. Historic landmarks include the 19th-century Rancagua Cathedral and the Agustín Ross Cultural Centre in Pichilemu. The region also features the site of the 1972 Andes flight disaster and the artificial Lake Rapel, a center for water sports.
