Quintana Roo borders the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral system in the world. This collection spans Cozumel’s iconic reef walls like Palancar and Paso El Cedral, the freshwater cave systems of Gran Cenote, and the coastal lagoons of Akumal and Xel-Há. These sites provide access to diverse marine ecosystems, including limestone caverns, seagrass beds frequented by sea turtles, and deep-water coral formations housing nurse sharks and eagle rays.
