Natural Wonders of the Westfjords

This list features the dramatic geological and historical landmarks of Iceland's westernmost point. The massive Látrabjarg Cliffs provide a primary nesting site for millions of seabirds, including puffins and razorbills. The landscape is further marked by the Garðar BA 64, Iceland's oldest steel shipwreck, alongside the historic Gíslahellir cave. Látrabjarg Cliffs

Látrabjarg is a promontory in the Westfjords of Iceland, and the westernmost point in Iceland.

Garðar BA 64

The oldest steel ship in Iceland, built in Norway in 1912. Originally used for whaling, it was ran aground in Skápadalur Valley in 1981.

Gíslahellir

A natural cave historically associated with the outlaw Gísli Súrsson, the protagonist of the 10th-century Gísla saga Súrssonar.

Grænafell

A mountain peak near Patreksfjörður reaching an elevation of 483 meters, offering views over the surrounding fjord landscape.

Litlafell

A mountain peak in the southern Westfjords, characteristic of the region's steep and glaciated terrain.
