Bristol Harbour & Waterways

Bristol's Floating Harbour, a 70-acre dock system dating back to 1809, serves as a living museum of maritime engineering. This collection features historic vessels like the 1861 steam tug Mayflower and the Matthew, a replica of John Cabot's 15th-century ship. The waterways are spanned by diverse structures, from the historic stone Bristol Bridge to the modern pedestrian Pero’s Bridge. Several converted barges, including The Apple and Greenshank, provide dining and social spaces directly on the water, reflecting the area's transition from an industrial port to a cultural hub.
