Skye Coastal Wonders
Skye’s coastline features the Trotternish peninsula's Kilt Rock, a 55-meter basalt cliff with the Mealt waterfall plunging into the Sound of Raasay. These beaches are composed of crushed, sun-bleached maerl, a type of calcified seaweed, rather than actual coral. The white sediment creates a turquoise hue in the surrounding water.
