Mayan Archaeological Wonders

Mérida and its surroundings are built upon a foundation of ancient Mayan civilization, featuring sites that range from the Middle Preclassic period to the Postclassic era. This collection includes major astronomical landmarks like the Temple of the 7 Dolls at Dzibilchaltún, known for its solar alignments, and urban archaeological parks like Xoclan. Many of these ruins are uniquely situated within the grounds of colonial-era henequen haciendas, such as San Pedro Cholul and Chichí Suárez, showcasing the layered historical landscape of the Yucatán Peninsula.
