Historical Ruins
Morocco’s archaeological landscape spans from the Roman ruins of Volubilis to the medieval Marinid Tombs in Fes. This collection features the 12th-century Almoravid Koubba, the oldest building in Marrakech, alongside the 16th-century El Badi Palace. Coastal defenses include the 18th-century Skala Du Port in Essaouira, while inland sites like Chellah in Rabat and the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate showcase defensive architecture and royal necropolises. These sites represent various dynasties, including the Almoravids, Saadians, and Marinids.
Skala Du Port
An 18th-century defensive bastion in Essaouira featuring a collection of bronze Spanish cannons. Built by Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah, the stone fortification offers views of the fishing port and Mogador Island.
