Quiché Essentials

Quiché serves as the cultural core of Guatemala's western highlands, preserving the legacy of the K'iche' Maya empire. This selection highlights the archaeological ruins of Q'umarkaj alongside living traditions found at the Chichicastenango market and the sacred shrine of Pascual Abaj. Q'umarkaj

Qʼumarkaj is an archaeological site in the southwest of the El Quiché department of Guatemala.

Mercado de Chichicastenango

Held every Thursday and Sunday, this indigenous market is a primary hub for K'iche' Maya textiles, hand-carved masks, and traditional pottery.

Iglesia Santo Tomas
