Shaxi’s spiritual landscape is defined by its well-preserved Ming Dynasty architecture and a unique blend of religious traditions. This collection features the historic Xingjiao Temple, a rare 15th-century Buddhist complex, alongside Taoist pavilions like the Kuixing and Wenchang temples dedicated to literature and learning. The list also includes traditional Benzhu shrines, which represent the indigenous folk religion of the local Bai people, and serene nunneries nestled within the surrounding countryside and pear orchards.
