Historic Sacred Sites

The Trenčín Region preserves a diverse collection of spiritual architecture spanning nearly a millennium. This selection includes the 12th-century Romanesque chapel in Veľký Klíž, the Gothic landmarks of Prievidza, and the 17th-century Piarist Church in Trenčín. Notable highlights feature Vladimír Karfík’s 20th-century functionalist design in Partizánske and the Diocesan Sanctuary of St. Benedict near the historic Skalka monastery. These sites represent various styles from medieval castle fortifications to Baroque reconstructions.

Nanebovzatia Panny Márie

A national cultural monument built around 1260. Originally part of the Prievidza Castle complex, this church is one of the oldest surviving structures in the city.

A Gothic parish church situated on Pribina Square. Construction began in the second half of the 14th century, featuring characteristic medieval architectural elements.
