Taranaki Region Must-Sees

The Taranaki Region is dominated by the near-perfect cone of Mount Taranaki, a 2,518-meter dormant stratovolcano. Surrounding the peak, Egmont National Park features diverse landscapes ranging from the 18-meter Dawson Falls to ancient rainforests. Along the coastline, the 156-meter Paritutu Rock offers panoramic views of the Tasman Sea and Port Taranaki, while the historic Cape Egmont Lighthouse, a cast-iron structure dating to 1865, marks the region's westernmost point.

Cape Egmont Lighthouse

Cast-iron lighthouse originally constructed on Mana Island in 1865 and moved to this site in 1881. It marks the westernmost point of the Taranaki coastline.

Dawson Falls
