Taranaki Region Must-Sees

The Taranaki Region is dominated by the near-perfect cone of Mount Taranaki, a 2,518-meter dormant stratovolcano. Surrounding the peak, Egmont National Park features diverse landscapes ranging from the 18-meter Dawson Falls to ancient rainforests. Along the coastline, the 156-meter Paritutu Rock offers panoramic views of the Tasman Sea and Port Taranaki, while the historic Cape Egmont Lighthouse, a cast-iron structure dating to 1865, marks the region's westernmost point.

Cape Egmont Lighthouse

Dawson Falls

An 18-meter waterfall on the southern slopes of Mount Taranaki, also known as Te Rere o Noke. The site features a historic 1930s hydroelectric generator.
