Natural Landscapes of Tonga

Tonga’s archipelago features a dramatic array of volcanic and limestone formations. This collection highlights the country's diverse topography, including the stratovolcano Kao, Tonga’s highest peak, and the caldera lakes of Niuafo'ou like Vai Lahi. It covers the active volcanic activity of Tofua’s Lofi'a crater and the remnants of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai eruption. On 'Eua, the Fangatave Cliffs showcase ancient uplifted limestone, while the remote islands of Late and Tafahi preserve undisturbed ecosystems and volcanic summits.

Volcanic peak on Tafahi island, rising 560 meters. The mountain is covered in lush forest and was historically used for navigation.
