Scenic Peaks and Overlooks

Valley of Fire State Park features diverse geological formations shaped by shifting sand dunes and erosion over 150 million years. This collection highlights significant Aztec Sandstone peaks and overlooks, including the high-silica formations of Silica Dome and the wind-sculpted Beehive Rock. Visitors can observe distinct cross-bedding layers, slot canyons at White Domes, and panoramic vistas of Fire Canyon. These sites showcase the park's transition from vibrant red sandstone to stark white limestone and shale outcrops.

Silica Dome

Fire Canyon Overlook

Elevated viewpoint overlooking the jagged red sandstone ridges of Fire Canyon and the adjacent white Silica Dome, illustrating the park's geological diversity.

Seven Sisters

A series of seven tall, eroded red sandstone pillars situated along the main park road. These formations are frequently used as a backdrop for outdoor events and weddings.

White Domes

Sandstone peaks featuring a mix of brilliant white and pink hues. The area includes a slot canyon and the stone ruins of a 1966 film set from The Professionals.

Beehive Rock

Sandstone mounds characterized by distinct cross-bedding layers created by ancient shifting sand dunes. The unique weathering patterns resemble traditional beehives.

Baseline Mesa

A prominent flat-topped mesa located on the eastern side of the park, offering views of the surrounding Aztec Sandstone formations and desert landscape.

Blue Point

A geological summit located near the park's eastern entrance, known for its distinct coloration and proximity to the thermal Blue Point Spring.
