Black River Essentials

Black River encompasses Mauritius' most diverse natural terrain, from the volcanic Seven Coloured Earths to the 100-meter-high Chamarel Waterfall. The district contains the country's only national park, protecting over 300 flowering plant species and endemic birds. Historically significant sites include the UNESCO-listed Le Morne Brabant, a former refuge for escaped slaves, and the 19th-century Martello Tower.
