Fiordland National Park Essentials

Fiordland National Park contains some of New Zealand's most significant natural landmarks, including the 1,692-meter Mitre Peak and the 580-meter Sutherland Falls. The region is defined by deep glacial fiords like Milford and Doubtful Sounds, connected by the 1.2-kilometer Homer Tunnel. Visitors can explore the limestone Te Ana-au Glow-Worm Caves or walk through the glacier-carved Eglinton Valley. The park also serves as a sanctuary for native species, including the rare flightless takahē at the Te Anau Bird Sanctuary.
