Jūrmala Essentials

Jūrmala’s central district blends 19th-century wooden heritage with contemporary cultural spaces. This selection features the Blue Flag beach at Majori, known for its fine white quartz sand, and the distinctive 1903 blue wooden villa that served as poet Aspazija’s final residence. Modern additions include the Dubulti Art Station, a contemporary art space operating within a functioning railway terminal, and the Inner Light gallery’s unique fluorescent paintings. Globe

A large rotating globe sculpture located at the intersection of Jomas and Turaidas streets. Restored in 2015, it serves as a primary landmark and meeting point in the Majori district.

Majoru pludmale

A Blue Flag beach characterized by white quartz sand. It features designated areas for volleyball and football, and serves as the city's central hub for seaside recreation.

Turtle

A bronze sculpture by Jānis Bārda, installed in 1995 near the shore. The artwork has become a recognized symbol of the city's coastal landscape.

Aspazijas māja

The final residence of Latvian poet Aspazija, this 1903 blue wooden villa features restored interiors, original furniture, and an interactive exhibition dedicated to her literary legacy.

Mākslas stacija "Dubulti"

A contemporary art gallery situated inside a functioning 1977 railway station. The building's expressive concrete architecture hosts rotating exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year.

Horna dārzs

A public park and cultural venue established in 1870. Historically the site of Jūrmala's first cinema, it now hosts outdoor concerts and community gatherings.

Inner Light Art Gallery

An art space showcasing "fluorescent" paintings by Vitaliy Ermolaev. The works utilize a specialized technique that reveals different hidden images and colors as the lighting shifts.
