Mar del Plata's coastline features a diverse range of environments, from the central, high-occupancy Playa Bristol to the southern cliffs of Acantilados. The central-south area includes the sheltered bay of Playa Varese and the surfing hub of Playa Grande. Further south, the Punta Mogotes complex provides extensive facilities near the historic 1891 lighthouse, leading to more rugged, dune-backed beaches like San Patricio and the community-managed ecological reserve at Verde Mundo.
