Museums & Galleries
This collection highlights Massachusetts' cultural and industrial heritage through diverse specialized institutions. Key sites include Boston's African Meeting House, the oldest surviving Black church building in the country, and the Longfellow House in Cambridge, a former headquarters for George Washington. The list spans from the maritime legacy of Cape Cod’s Highland Light and Nantucket’s Maria Mitchell Science Library to Lowell’s industrial landmarks like the American Textile History Museum and the Suffolk Mill Turbine Exhibit. Historic residences, including the birthplace of painter James McNeill Whistler and the colonial John Ashley House, round out this historical survey.
