CHKO Pálava Essentials

CHKO Pálava, a UNESCO biosphere reserve in South Moravia, is defined by its white limestone peaks and historic wine-growing tradition. The region features the Pavlov Hills, dominated by the Děvín peak and the 13th-century ruins of Děvičky Castle. The town of Mikulov serves as a cultural center, housing the Baroque Mikulov Chateau, the Dietrichstein family tomb, and a significant Jewish heritage site. Archaeological importance is centered at Archeopark Pavlov, showcasing a 30,000-year-old Paleolithic settlement, while the Turold Cave system offers a unique glimpse into the area's geological formations.

Castles and Ruins of Pálava

The Pálava region features a collection of historical fortifications and residences integrated into the Pavlov Hills' limestone landscape.
