Piešťany — Spa Town Heritage
46 min · 1.8 km · 6 haltes
Piešťany is Slovakia's most famous spa town, built around a marshy island in the Váh river where hot sulphur springs and healing mud have drawn the sick and the curious since the 1500s. It traces how a modest bathing place became one of Europe's grand Belle Époque spas — above all through Ľudovít Winter, who from 1889 turned Piešťany into a destination for kings and maharajas. Starting on the Winterova promenade, the walk passes the Balneological Museum, crosses the glass-roofed Colonnade Bridge past the town's crutch-breaking symbol, and steps onto Spa Island to the grand baths where the mud still heals. Six stops over about a kilometre and a half — roughly an hour with the audio.
