The Évora District preserves a dense concentration of historical monuments spanning from the Paleolithic to the Renaissance. This selection highlights the Almendres Cromlech, the largest megalithic complex on the Iberian Peninsula, alongside the exceptionally preserved 1st-century Roman Temple of Évora. The region's archaeological landscape is further defined by the 16th-century Silver Water Aqueduct, Paleolithic rock art in the Escoural Cave, and numerous Neolithic dolmens and menhirs scattered across the Alentejo plains.
Menir dos Almendres
A solitary granite monolith standing nearly 4 meters tall. Located near the Almendres Cromlech, it is believed to have been positioned to align with the sunrise on the winter solstice.
