Rijnland-Palts Onmisbaar

Rijnland-Palts presenteert het UNESCO-werelderfgoed Boven Midden-Rijndal, gekenmerkt door steile wijngaarden en een hoge concentratie middeleeuwse burchten zoals Rheinfels en Burcht Katz. De geschiedenis van de regio strekt zich uit van de democratische betekenis van Slot Hambach tot de Bundesbank-bunker uit de Koude Oorlog in Cochem. Architectonische hoogtepunten zijn onder meer de gotische Sint-Petrus-en-Pauluskerk en het Dürkheimer Fass, het grootste wijnvat ter wereld. Buitenattracties variëren van het uitkijkpunt Pinnerkreuz met uitzicht op de Moezel tot het pretpark Holiday Park in Haßloch.

Kastelen en ruïnes

Deze collectie omvat de uiteenlopende versterkingen van Rijnland-Palts, van de middeleeuwse ruïnes in de Rijn- en Moezelvallei tot het dichte Paltserwoud. Het bevat het Hambacher Schloss, een symbool van de Duitse democratie, en het enorme kasteel Rheinfels, ooit de grootste vesting aan de Rijn. De lijst bevat een mix van ruïnes op heuveltoppen, bewaarde paleizen die nu als hotel dienen, en architecturale overblijfselen die dateren van het Romeinse tijdperk tot de 19e eeuw, en belicht de strategische militaire en politieke geschiedenis van de regio.
