Historic Sites of Šibenik

Šibenik’s historical landscape is anchored by the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St. James, a 15th-century stone masterpiece. The city’s strategic importance is visible through its four Venetian fortifications: the hilltop St. Michael’s, the sea-bound St. Nicholas, and the 17th-century Barone and St. John’s fortresses. This collection also features the Jaruga Hydroelectric Power Plant—one of the world's oldest—and archaeological sites like Mrdakovica, which preserve remains from the Iron Age and Roman eras.
