Syrmia District Essentials
Syrmia District preserves layers of European history, from the excavated streets of Sirmium, once a capital of the Roman Empire, to the medieval fortifications of Kupinik and Šabac. The Fruška Gora mountain range is home to a dense concentration of 15th and 16th-century Serbian Orthodox monasteries, including Krušedol and Novo Hopovo.
