Kutná Hora: The Silver Town

Kutná Hora grew rich on silver. From the late thirteenth century its mines fed the Bohemian treasury, and from 1300 the Prague groschen was struck here. This walk follows the silver through the UNESCO-listed old town: the royal mint at the Italian Court, the burgher houses its money built, a Gothic fountain, the Hrádek mining museum, the Jesuit College terrace and the Cathedral of Saint Barbara. Seven stops, about an hour and a quarter on foot. The walk starts at the Italian Court on Havlíčkovo náměstí, a few minutes' walk from Palackého náměstí, the main square.
