Archaeological Sites

The Serra de São Mamede Natural Park contains a high concentration of ancient sites spanning from the Neolithic period to the Roman era. This collection features the well-preserved Roman city of Ammaia, known for its forum and baths, alongside several megalithic monuments including the Anta da Casa dos Galhardos and the Menir do Corregedor. These sites, which include Iron Age fortifications like Castro da Crença and ancient necropolises, provide a comprehensive look at the historical settlement and defensive structures of the Alentejo region.
