Veszprém

Historical Ruins

This collection features significant medieval ruins in and around Veszprém, highlighting the region's religious and industrial history. The sites include the 13th-century Pauline monastery in Gyulafirátót and the Veszprém Valley nunnery, one of Hungary's oldest monastic foundations. Visitors can explore the remains of the 1240 Dominican convent where Saint Margaret of Hungary resided, the 11th-century Saint Nicholas parish church, and the historic stone walls of the Csatár water mill along the Séd stream.

Rátóti kolostorrom

Ruins of a 13th-century Pauline monastery founded by the Rátót clan. The site retains Gothic architectural elements and visible remains of the monastery church and cloister walls.

Veszprémvölgyi apácakolostor

Remains of a Greek Orthodox nunnery established around 1000 AD, later occupied by Cistercian nuns. The site features foundations of the medieval church and a 14th-century Gothic chapel.

Szent Katalin-kolostor romjai

Known as the Margaret Ruins, these 13th-century Dominican convent remains mark where Saint Margaret of Hungary lived. The site displays early Gothic architectural features and surviving walls of the convent church.

Szent Miklós Plébániatemplom romjai

Foundations of an 11th-century parish church situated on a hill in Veszprém. The ruins include the base of the tower and the nave, representing one of the city's oldest religious sites.

Csatári malom romjai

Stone ruins of a historic water mill located along the Séd stream. The site preserves remnants of the mill's structure and water management system within the Veszprém Valley.
