Carpathian Waterfalls & Lakes

The Ukrainian Carpathians feature a concentration of high-altitude glacial lakes and cascading waterfalls across the Chornohora, Svydovets, and Marmaros massifs. This selection includes Yalynskyi, the highest single-drop waterfall in the region, and Trufanec, which cascades 36 meters down the Svydovets slopes. Glacial lakes like Nesamovyte and Dogaska, situated above 1,450 meters, offer insights into the geological history of the Carpathian biosphere reserve and provide essential water sources for high-altitude ecosystems.

Nesamovyte

Glacial lake in the Chornohora range at 1,750 meters altitude. It is approximately 88 meters long and 45 meters wide, with a maximum depth of 1.5 meters.

Yalynskyi Waterfall

A 26-meter single-drop waterfall located in the Marmaros massif within the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. It is the highest single-drop waterfall in the Ukrainian Carpathians.

Vodospad Trufanec

A 36-meter cascading waterfall on the southeastern slopes of the Svydovets massif. It is located directly by the H-09 highway between Yasinia and Kvasy.

Blue Lagoon

A turquoise pool formed by a small waterfall on the Liutianka River near Chornoholova. The water reaches depths of 3 meters and maintains a clear hue due to the rocky riverbed.

Vorozheske

A two-level glacial lake on the Svydovets massif at 1,460 meters. The larger upper lake has a diameter of approximately 95 meters and a depth of 4.5 meters.

Dogaska

Also known as Gerashaska, this rectangular glacial lake sits at 1,577 meters on the Svydovets massif. It measures 125 meters in length and has a maximum depth of 1.2 meters.
