Alpine Huts in Bad Gastein
Bad Gastein's mountain landscape features a network of historic alpine huts and modern shelters situated between 1,500 and 2,600 meters. This selection includes high-altitude bases like the Hagener Hütte at the historic Mallnitzer Tauern pass and the modern Hannoverhaus near the Ankogel. Hikers can find traditional dairy pastures such as the Moisesalm in Sportgastein or the Untere Astenalm, known for regional specialties like Bauernkrapfen. Hannoverhaus
Modern Category II DAV shelter rebuilt in 2013. Located at 2,565 meters near the Ankogel cable car station, it serves as a base for high-alpine tours in the Ankogel Group.
Hagener Hütte
Situated at 2,446 meters on the Mallnitzer Tauern pass, this hut marks a historic crossing point between Salzburg and Carinthia. It is a key stop on the Central Alpine Way.
Poserhöhe
Located at 1,505 meters, this hut offers views across the Gastein Valley. It is accessible via a steep forest trail from Bad Gastein and serves as a gateway to the Graukogel area.
Niedersachsenhaus
A mountain refuge at 2,471 meters on the Riffelscharte ridge. It connects the Gastein and Rauris valleys and serves as the starting point for the high-altitude Gasteiner Höhenweg trail.
