Alpine Huts in Bad Gastein

Bad Gastein's mountain landscape features a network of historic alpine huts and modern shelters situated between 1,500 and 2,600 meters. This selection includes high-altitude bases like the Hagener Hütte at the historic Mallnitzer Tauern pass and the modern Hannoverhaus near the Ankogel. Hikers can find traditional dairy pastures such as the Moisesalm in Sportgastein or the Untere Astenalm, known for regional specialties like Bauernkrapfen. These locations serve as essential waypoints for the Gasteiner Höhenweg and provide access to the Hohe Tauern National Park's diverse terrain.

Hannoverhaus

Modern Category II DAV shelter rebuilt in 2013. Located at 2,565 meters near the Ankogel cable car station, it serves as a base for high-alpine tours in the Ankogel Group.

Hagener Hütte

Situated at 2,446 meters on the Mallnitzer Tauern pass, this hut marks a historic crossing point between Salzburg and Carinthia. It is a key stop on the Central Alpine Way.

Poserhöhe

Located at 1,505 meters, this hut offers views across the Gastein Valley. It is accessible via a steep forest trail from Bad Gastein and serves as a gateway to the Graukogel area.

Niedersachsenhaus

A mountain refuge at 2,471 meters on the Riffelscharte ridge. It connects the Gastein and Rauris valleys and serves as the starting point for the high-altitude Gasteiner Höhenweg trail.

Graukogel Bergstation

Mountain restaurant at 1,950 meters at the top of the Graukogel lift. It is the starting point for the Zirbenweg, a themed trail through ancient stone pine forests.

Stubneralm

High-altitude pasture at 1,806 meters on the Stubnerkogel. The hut serves regional dairy products and cheese produced on-site during the summer grazing season.

Jungeralm - Kresseben

Traditional alpine hut located on the western slopes of the Stubnerkogel, specializing in regional snacks and dairy products from the surrounding pastures.

Naßfeldalm

Located in the high-altitude Sportgastein valley. This traditional hut operates during the summer months within the Hohe Tauern National Park, offering a stop for valley hikers.

Ali-Lanti-Biwak

High-alpine emergency shelter located at 2,720 meters on the ridge between Gamskarlspitze and Graukogel. It provides basic protection for mountaineers in distress.

Böckfeldalm

A traditional mountain hut at 1,538 meters above Böckstein. Known for its regional cuisine, it is reached via a forest path and offers views of the Gastein mountain range.

untere Astenalm

Situated in the Anlauftal valley, this accessible hut is known for its traditional 'Bauernkrapfen' (fried dough pastries) and fresh local dairy products.

Moisesalm
