Senja Essentials

Senja showcases Norway’s diverse geography, featuring the jagged Okshornan rock formations at Tungeneset and the 639-meter sharp peak of Segla. The island's landscape includes the white sands of Ersfjord beach, the 134-square-kilometer Ånderdalen National Park, and the traditional fishing community of Husøy. Segla

A prominent 639-meter peak rising vertically from the Øyfjorden. The hiking trail begins in the village of Fjordgård and provides views of the Mefjorden and surrounding mountain ranges.

Tungeneset

A rest area on the Norwegian Scenic Route featuring a wooden walkway over coastal rocks. It offers a direct view of the Okshornan mountain range, commonly referred to as the 'Devil's Teeth'.

Ersfjord beach

A white sand beach located at the head of Ersfjorden, surrounded by steep mountains. It is a known location for viewing the Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights.

Bergsbotn utsiktsplattform

A 44-meter-long wooden viewing platform cantilevered over the Bergsfjorden. It provides a panoramic view of the village of Bergsbotn and the surrounding fjord landscape.

Golden Toilet

A gold-plated service building at Ersfjord beach designed by Tupelo Arkitektur. The triangular structure is part of the Norwegian Scenic Route's architectural initiatives.

Ånderdalen National Park

Ånderdalen National Park is located on the large island of Senja in Troms county, Norway.

Sukkertoppen

A 456-meter mountain located near the village of Hamn. The summit provides a 360-degree view of the Bergsfjorden and its numerous small islands.

Husøy kapell

A wooden chapel built in 1957 to serve the fishing community on the island of Husøy. It is part of the Church of Norway.

Senjatrollet

The site of a former theme park that housed the world's largest troll statue until a fire destroyed the main structures in 2019.
