Parks and Nature in Wernigerode

Wernigerode’s natural landscape features a mix of historical palace gardens and expansive wildlife areas. The Lustgarten and Burggraben provide green spaces directly adjacent to the town's iconic castle, while the Agnesberg viewpoint offers a direct line of sight to the fortress and the Harz mountains. Further from the center, the Bürgerpark hosts over 60 themed gardens and miniature Harz models. For wildlife observation, the Christianental Wild Park houses regional species like lynx and wildcats in a forested valley setting.

A former 16th-century princely garden situated below Wernigerode Castle. It features a historic palm house, expansive lawns, and century-old trees.

An 8-hectare wildlife park in the Christianental valley showcasing native Harz animals, including lynx, wildcats, and birds of prey. Open year-round with a traditional forest guesthouse.

Agnesberg
