Bangladesh’s historical landscape features a blend of ancient religious centers and poignant modern memorials. This selection highlights the UNESCO-listed Somapura Mahavihara, an 8th-century Buddhist monastery, and the 17th-century Mughal Tahakhana complex. It also includes monuments dedicated to the nation’s struggle for identity, such as the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial and the Greek Cenotaph, the last remaining structure of Dhaka’s historic Greek merchant community.

Mughal Tahakhana

A 17th-century two-story complex built by Prince Shah Shuja. It includes a mosque, a tomb, and a 'Tahakhana' or cooling room designed with traditional Mughal architectural elements to provide relief from the heat.

Mirpur Buddhijibi Shahid Minar

GREEK CENOTAPH

A square structure with a Doric-style porch built around 1900. Located within the Dhaka University campus, it is the only surviving monument of the city’s former Greek cemetery.
