Historical Monuments and Towers

This collection highlights the diverse architectural heritage of the Plovdiv region and Central Bulgaria, spanning from the 2nd-century Roman Stadium and Forum of Philippopolis to modern commemorative landmarks. It features the Arch of Freedom at Beklemeto Pass, the 11-meter Alyosha monument on Bunarjik Hill, and significant technical structures like the Botev Peak relay station. These sites represent various eras, including ancient Roman administration, the Bulgarian medieval state, and the country's 20th-century history.

Plovdiv Roman Stadium

The Stadium of Philippopolis was the ancient Roman stadium of Philippopolis, built in the 2nd century AD, during the Roman imperial period.

Anticen forum

The administrative, commercial, and religious center of ancient Philippopolis. This 1st-century AD Roman complex includes ruins of the treasury, odeon, and library.

Arch of Freedom

A 37-meter high concrete monument located at the Beklemeto Pass. It commemorates the liberation of Bulgaria during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878.

Alosa

An 11-meter tall reinforced concrete statue of a Soviet soldier standing atop Bunarjik Hill. Dedicated in 1957, it offers panoramic views of Plovdiv.

Han Krum

A bronze monument in Plovdiv’s Trakia district honoring the 9th-century Bulgarian ruler Khan Krum, who incorporated the city into the First Bulgarian Empire.

Krsta

A memorial cross located on a ridge in the Rhodope Mountains near the village of Borovo, serving as a religious landmark and viewpoint.

RRTS Lki

A radio and television relay station situated on a high peak near the town of Laki in the Rhodope Mountains.

Kambanaria

A 30-meter high bell tower located in Haskovo, part of the Monument of the Holy Mother of God complex. It is one of the tallest bell towers in the Balkan Peninsula.

RRTS Botev

A major telecommunications tower located on Botev Peak, the highest summit of the Balkan Mountains at 2,376 meters above sea level.

Crkovna kambanaria

A traditional church bell tower located in the town of Kalofer, representing 19th-century Bulgarian National Revival architecture.
