Cat Island Essentials

Cat Island features the Bahamas' highest elevation at Mount Alvernia, topped by the hand-carved stone Hermitage built in 1939. This quiet island is defined by the pink-sand shoreline of Old Bight Beach and the sheltered, clear waters of Fernandez Bay. Mount Alvernia

Mount Alvernia is located on Cat Island in the Bahamas and is the highest point in the country at 63 metres above sea level.

The Hermitage

A small-scale stone monastery hand-carved in 1939 by Father Jerome. It includes a tiny chapel, living quarters, and a bell tower situated at the country's highest point.
