This selection highlights the archaeological heritage of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It features the UNESCO-listed city of Philippi, known for its Roman forum and early Christian basilicas. On the island of Thasos, the list covers the ancient Agora, the Gate of Zeus and Hera with its preserved reliefs, and the Acropolis overlooking the Aegean. Acropolis of Thasos

Situated on a hill above the ancient theater, this site contains the foundations of the Temple of Athena and a medieval fortress constructed on ancient ruins.
