Fernando de Noronha’s historical landscape is defined by its 18th-century defensive system and colonial religious architecture. This list features Portuguese fortifications built to secure the archipelago against foreign invasion, including the expansive Forte de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios. It also highlights the island’s spiritual heritage through the 1772 Church of Our Lady of Remedies and the Capela de São Pedro, alongside the Aldeia dos Sentenciados, a remnant of the island’s era as a penal colony.

A small chapel situated above the port, serving as the focal point for the annual Saint Peter’s festival celebrated by local fishermen.

Forte de São José do Morro
