Hiddensee Essentials

Hiddensee is a car-free Baltic island defined by its deep artistic roots and protected landscapes. This selection features the 14th-century Inselkirche, the last remnant of a Cistercian monastery, and the Art Nouveau Lietzenburg villa. It highlights the island’s cultural legacy through the summer homes of dramatist Gerhart Hauptmann and silent film star Asta Nielsen. From the northern Dornbusch Lighthouse to the southern Gellen beacon, these landmarks represent the architectural and natural history of the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park.
