Northland's Natural Wonders
Northland’s landscape is defined by the ancient Waipoua Forest, home to the 2,000-year-old Tāne Mahuta kauri tree, and the dramatic collision of the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean at Cape Reinga. The region features the 88-kilometre-long Ninety Mile Beach, the limestone-fringed Whangārei Falls, and deep estuarine environments like Hokianga Harbour. Volcanic peaks such as Mount Manaia offer panoramic views over the Whangārei Heads, while secluded spots like the Mermaid Pools and Tapotupotu Bay provide access to the rugged northern coastline.
