The Salzkammergut region is defined by the Northern Limestone Alps, featuring prominent summits like the Hoher Dachstein, the second-highest peak in the range. Many peaks, such as Schafberg and Zwölferhorn, are accessible via historic cog railways or cable cars, providing panoramic views over the Wolfgangsee and Mondsee. The list includes the Traunstein, known as the 'Guardian of the Salzkammergut,' and the Gosaukamm range, characterized by the jagged limestone spires of the Große Bischofsmütze.
