Son Tra Peninsula Essentials

The Son Tra Peninsula, or Monkey Mountain, is a 4,439-hectare nature reserve overlooking Da Nang. It features the 67-meter tall Lady Buddha statue at Linh Ung Pagoda and the 800-year-old Heritage Banyan Tree. The area is the primary habitat for the endangered red-shanked douc langur. Key landmarks include the historic 1902 Tien Sa Lighthouse, the chess-themed Ban Co Peak, and secluded beaches like Bai Bac. A coastal road connects these sites, passing through dense jungle and traditional fishing communities.

Lady Buddha

Standing 67 meters tall, this white marble statue is the tallest Buddha figure in Vietnam. It is situated within the grounds of Linh Ung Pagoda and faces the sea.

Linh Ung Pagoda

The largest pagoda in Da Nang, featuring traditional Vietnamese architecture, intricate dragon carvings, and 18 white marble Arhat statues lining the courtyard.

Monkey Mountain

Rising 693 meters above sea level, this mountain is a biodiversity hotspot. It serves as a sanctuary for the rare red-shanked douc langur and various tropical plant species.

Ban Co Peak

The highest point on the peninsula, featuring a bronze statue of a deity playing chess. It provides a 360-degree view of Da Nang and the East Sea.

The Heritage Banyan Tree

An 800-year-old tree with a complex system of nearly 100 secondary roots. Its main trunk has a circumference of approximately 10 meters.

Tien Sa Lighthouse

Historic French lighthouse constructed in 1902 that serves as an active navigational aid. It sits over 200 meters above sea level on a rocky cliff, providing views of the ocean and forest.
