Vernazza's Historic Churches

Vernazza’s religious heritage spans from the iconic 14th-century Chiesa di Santa Margherita di Antiochia on the harbor to the remote mountain sanctuaries of Reggio and San Bernardino. These sites showcase Ligurian Gothic and Romanesque architecture, featuring local dark stone and Carrara marble. Chiesa di Santa Margherita di Antiochia

Built in 1318 in Ligurian Gothic style, this church stands on a rocky promontory overlooking the harbor. It features a unique 40-meter octagonal bell tower and a three-aisle interior with dark local stone columns.
