Best Beaches and Bays
The Akrotiri peninsula near Chania features a diverse coastline ranging from deep natural harbors to secluded rocky inlets. This selection includes Seitan Limania, a narrow canyon-like cove carved into limestone cliffs, and Stavros Lagoon, famously used as a filming location for Zorba the Greek. Seitan Limania Beach

Stavros Lagune
A circular lagoon at the base of Vardies Mountain, known as the filming site for the 1964 movie Zorba the Greek. The shallow, calm waters are protected from open-sea winds.
Loutraki Beach

Machairida / Maherida
A secluded rocky cove with a small sandy shore and deep, clear water. The beach is unorganized and frequently used by naturists due to its hidden location behind a limestone ridge.
Kalami Beach
A quiet beach with sand and pebbles overlooking Souda Bay. The site offers views of the 19th-century Itzedin Fortress and the small islet of Souda.
