Lefkada's Unmissable Gems
Lefkada features a diverse landscape ranging from the 14th-century Venetian Castle of Santa Maura to the windsurfing hub of Vasiliki. The island's west coast is defined by dramatic limestone cliffs and turquoise waters at Egremni and Kathisma, while the interior hosts the Dimosari waterfalls and Klousouria gorge. Religious history is preserved at the 17th-century Monastery of Faneromeni, and the eastern bays like Sivota provide sheltered moorings for maritime travel.
Egremni
Long stretch of white sand and turquoise water framed by high limestone cliffs. It is accessible via a steep staircase or by boat from nearby ports.
Kathisma
Organized sandy beach on the west coast. It features beach bars and serves as a primary landing point for paragliders launching from the nearby cliffs.
Waterfalls Dimosari
Series of cascades near Nidri ending in a natural swimming pool. The site is reached via a shaded trail through a rocky gorge.
Aghiofili Beach
Small, pebble-covered cove south of Vasiliki. Known for its transparent water and accessible primarily by taxi boat or a walking trail.
Mikros Gialos
Sheltered bay near Poros village with calm waters and white pebbles, protected from strong winds by surrounding green hills.
Castle of Santa Maura
14th-century Venetian fortress located at the narrow entrance to the island. It features thick stone defensive walls and remains of a Christian church.
Monastery of Faneromeni
17th-century religious site and ecclesiastical museum. Located on a hill above the capital, the grounds include a small zoo and views of the northern lagoons.
