Military History & Fortifications

This collection highlights the strategic military heritage of the Trutnov region, spanning from the 19th-century Austro-Prussian War to the 20th-century Czechoslovak border defenses. The list features the massive Stachelberg artillery fortress, known for its extensive underground tunnel system, alongside a dense chain of infantry blockhouses built between 1937 and 1938. Complementing these modern bunkers are significant memorials dedicated to General Gablenz and Austrian artillerymen, marking key sites from the 1866 Battle of Trutnov.
