Discover Zurich's essential sights in one relaxed walk through the old town and along the Limmat river. Begin at the Kunsthaus, the city's leading art museum, then cross the historic centre to the twin-towered Grossmünster, the Town Hall on the riverbank, the Lindenhof terrace with its view over the rooftops, St. Peter's giant clock face and the Chagall windows of Fraumünster. Follow Bahnhofstrasse down to the lake at Quaibrücke and finish at the Opera House on Sechseläutenplatz. The walk starts at the Kunsthaus, served by a tram stop of the same name.

Geneva's essential first-time walk: starting at the Reformers' Wall in Bastions Park, up through the cafés of Bourg-de-Four to the cathedral where Calvin preached, past the city's oldest house and its medieval Molard Tower, down through the Old Town to the Rhône's island tower, then along the water to the Flower Clock and the iconic Jet d'Eau fountain. In about 100 minutes and under 4 kilometres, this loop covers the handful of sights every Geneva visitor should see. Starts at Place Neuve, a major tram and bus hub.
