The building was constructed in the early 20th century and opened in 1913 as a public thermal bath. Its architectural design follows the Vienna Secession style, integrating Bulgarian, Byzantine, and Eastern Orthodox influences. The structure served as a public facility until 1986.

Since September 2015, the landmark has housed the Regional History Museum – Sofia. The museum preserves and showcases more than 120,000 historical items documenting the history of the city. The exhibits are displayed within the historically significant interior of the former bathhouse.

The structure was built near the site of a former Turkish bath. It remains a prominent example of regional architecture and functions as a center for historical preservation.
